good day
today was a wonderfully productive day off. first: drawing, reading, laundry and cat-entertaining (look for a tuckered out Boots); followed by gettin' my merry on with the first official present-wrapping session of the season, complete with christmas decor, lights and candles to set the appropriate mood; finally, a lovely dinner that merged Indian and Asian cuisine beautifully, care of boyfriend.
xmas break reading list (a work in progress)
1. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson
2. some John Steinbeck short stories or Cannery Row
3. Aldous Huxley - Brave New World
4. Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within by Natalie Goldberg
5. The Dream Songs - John Berryman
6. something magical

my best therapy
i have read somewhere, during my lifelong venture of random and excessive word consumption, that a cat will press the bridge of his nose up against whatever he may be laying near - say the arm of a couch or the back of a chair - so as to slightly cut off the flow of oxygen and immerse himself more quickly into the deepest state of sleep.
there is nothing better than sitting on the carpet on my knees and plopping myself forward until the top of my head is almost flat on the floor, wherein my cat presses his face against the side of mine, nose in my ear, purring and rumbling as if to tell me all his kittenish secrets.
they follow their instincts; i follow mine.
